As I read my devotional this morning, complaining and criticizing was addressed as thinking we could run the universe better than God. In pondering this, I realized that in my limited viewpoint where I cannot see the whole picture I may have entertained that thought unknowingly when I was wishing things to be different. Humbly, I give gratitude that God is always in control and my human opinion matters not at all.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 reads “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
As I begin my day in quiet time, my mission is to watch my thinking and stay with the Truth that God’s Spiritual universe is and always has been perfect. Today’s news which include so much chaos in the world, political and otherwise is actually nothingness. I am reminded of the verse from Ecclesiastes 1:2 which states, “Meaningless! Meaningless! says the teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless!” Doesn’t that say it all about the news! Yet, so much time and energy are spent in worrying, discussing, debating and having thoughts filled with vanity. That spills over into our lives and influences erroneously.
Today, I will watch what I speak and think.
Whenever I become anxious or complain, that suggests that I know better than God on how to govern my world. I am not aware of everything He knows and sees and today I will be so grateful that governing the universe is not my job! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 states, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I wish all a very Happy Easter and know He is risen!
So often, it is tempting to try to work things out before their time. We may even think we know better than God! Praying and telling God just how and when we need things can feel we know best! Ecclesiastes 3:1 reads, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” That is a great verse with which to align while praying. God knows the perfect time for all. Only Good is going on in the spiritual universe. The human universe is an enigma and will always look chaotic. Turn to God and see what He sees! Perfection and harmony.
