So often we think what we need is a problem-free life where it is predictable and we feel safe. That is exactly the time we release God as our focal point and think we can do it on our own. As trouble arises, it seems to highlight the presence of God when we turn to Him. When we focus on God, we can then feel real security. Isaiah 41:10 states “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and hep you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Right now, I will rejoice in all things knowing that they work together for good to them that love God.
There is absolutely no challenge too small nor too large for God. This morning I was reminded how “depression” is widespread and talked about in advertisements and articles. Any time I have felt discouraged, I pray with Psalm 40:2-3 which reads “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”
To think we can go to God with any and all things is such security and nothing the world offers can compete with that sense of security. As I was thinking of the slimy pit, I also thought that there is no need to go to rock bottom because we can turn to God at anytime. We can always say “Thus far and no farther”.
This was found as I was cleaning a desk drawer and I thought I would share it. There was no name on it.
The Lord is my Shepherd—that’s a Relationship!
I shall not want—that’s Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures—that’s Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters—that’s Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul—that’s Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness—that’s Guidance!
For His name sake—that’s Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death—that’s Testing!
I will fear no evil—that’s Protection!
For Thou art with me—that’s Faithfulness!
Ty rod and Thy staff comfort me—that’s Discipline!
Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies—that’s Hope!
Thou annointest my head with oil—that’s Consecration!
My cup runneth over—that’s Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life—that’s Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord—that’s Security!
Found this very comforting today.
Beliefs I have claimed throughout the years have changed and sometimes, often and do not result in feelings of security. On the other hand, my understanding comes gently and in increments of Knowing that God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient Good. Security results as I recognize man as image and likeness of God, which is in Genesis 1:26, where it states, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping that creepeth upon the earth.” That is the real creation.
Self-sufficiency is destroyed as I realize my dependence upon God more and more daily. Then, I know my security lies in God. 2 Corinthians 12:9 states, “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”
This verse was reassuring during a severe hail storm last night. This morning I express gratitude for our protection including home and cars.
