A Promise

While looking out at the cold winter’s day with temperature below freezing, a verse of a poem by Natalie Sleeth comes to thought.

“In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free!  In the cold and snow of winter, there’s a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”

There is such beauty and comfort in that poem as I trust God with everything!

Hymn of Promise

At Church today, our soloist sang the following which I think is beautiful and wanted to share it.

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free!  In the cold and snow of winter, there’s a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.  There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me.  From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.  In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity.  In our doubt, there is believing; in our life, eternity.  In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see; unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

As I reread this, I thought, this is a beautiful prayer!

Laughter

Often, as the holiday season approaches, we find ourselves becoming stressful and joy flees.  It is sometimes easy to take ourselves seriously and become burdened with our lists of endless things to accomplish.  All at once, Christmas is over and we have missed the entire point!

Proverbs 17:22 reads, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”  This season, I will laugh more and see what God sees!  I doubt He is stressed out!

Timely Fashion

Today I will not fret or attempt to force things to work out before their time!  When something comes up, I will go to God for guidance and direction.  I will remember Ecclesiastes 3:1, which reads, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”

This day will be God’s day and it will be filled with joy!
