The Cave

This morning as I was praying about the rescue of the boys’ soccer team and their assistant coach from the cave in Thailand, I had  been reading the Holy Bible and “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy asking for guidance on how to pray.  Was immediately led to a citation in Science and Health, which stated “Material belief is slow to acknowledge what the spiritual fact implies.  The Truth is the centre of all religion.  It commands sure entrance into the realm of Love.”  That seemed to be the answer for me as I thought of the dire predictions humanly but soon remembered that God was right there with those children in the cave.

Also, the prayers going out from people all over the world have to be comforting them and those who are seeking an entrance in order to save them.  My prayer today surrounds those inside as well as outside those walls.  Then, I realized I was praying for the entire universe.

Romans 8:38-39 states “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Closeness of God

As I begin my day this morning, I was pondering just how close God is; certainly not a far-off God!  Feeling He is as close as my next heartbeat, prayer or thought and relishing that thought I am reminded of Romans 8:38-39 which states “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

When I keep this foremost in my mind, I can be alert to any irritation, fear or worry that attempts to sneak in and cast it out immediately.  Either my thoughts are harmonious or not for they certainly cannot hold Love and hatred at the same time.  It is my choice what to nurture and I choose peace.

Being Good

Growing up, I believed one must be good in order for God to love him when actually, God can only love since He is Love!  Being Good to me has come to mean being grateful for all the Good God has bestowed upon me.  Romans 8:38-39 reads, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Making Sense of Tragedy

While praying this morning about the senseless tragedy in a small Church in Texas, I know I cannot make sense of it.  On Facebook, someone posted he would love to see where there is peace on earth.  Immediately, I looked within my own heart to make sure I was not harboring any resentment or bitterness toward anyone because Peace does begin within the individual.  My comfort today comes from Romans 8:38-39 which states, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Today, in the sobering aftermath of the shooting yesterday, I will pray that even though I may not understand, I will continue to know God is still in charge and has all of us in His sight.

Temptation

Even Jesus was tempted by error or satan, so why should we be surprised when we are.  “If you really are the son of God, you should be able to turn that stone into bread.”  Now, if Jesus, the most spiritual man ever, was tempted, we should think of what He said to error.  “Get thee behind me, Satan!”  How often do we hear in our thoughts, “If you were a better person or if you hadn’t done this or that, or if you weren’t so stupid….”?

In the prayer he gave to us he tells us “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;”.  The very instant my thought becomes dark or doubting, I turn to Romans 8:38-39 which states, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

While praying with those verses, the darkness disappears as I claim my inseparability to God!

God is always God

Today as I am praying to God, I am so aware that I am not praying to an old man in the sky ; therefore I am not attempting to make Him more manlike but am realizing my oneness to the  Father.  As divinity embraces humanity, it does not cease being divinity.  In Romans 8:38-39 it reads, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Man is never, ever separated from God, and it is up to us to recognize it and claim it for ourselves.  It is always Truth, though so always unchanging and permanent.

Releasing Old Baggage

Today, it is time to release our desire to cherish old hurts, unhappiness or grief and replace them with our true identity, which is the reflection of God made in His image and likeness.  We need not rehearse nor entertain old slights but replace them with loving thoughts!  The more we reject negativity, the more positive our life becomes!

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:38-39

This is celebrating Thanksgiving and can be done year long!
