Planning instead of Listening

There is so much to do today as I feel I may have over-extended myself.  Company coming and so many other things that need to be done to get  ready for them.  Then there possibly is a change of plans which tend to irritate somewhat.  Peace and harmony are no where to be found in my consciousness.    All at once, I am drawn to Luke 10:39-42 which reads “She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said, But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made,  She came to Him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?  Tell her to help me!’  ‘Martha, Martha, ‘ the Lord answered, ‘ you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed,  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'”

Of course, human footsteps need to be taken, but not at the expense of wringing my hands and planning down to the final detail.  Today, I will not humanly outline, but listening to God’s direction and act accordingly.  This is how I find peace and harmony.

Summer Camp

Once I heard someone say we should live like we were at summer camp.  Remember, how each day was filled with joy and adventure because we were alive!  Do we now live like we are at camp or fill each day with planning what we will be doing later when we get there?  Life is going on Now!  Isaiah 41:13 states, “For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.'”  Those robbers of abundant living, which are fear and worry are never present when we live in the Now!  Live today to the fullest.

Excessive Planning

Human footsteps are important, but never excessive planning.  Peace will never be attained by attempting to foresee any and all needs in the future.  Man can never predict future happenings and preparing for those will only cause mental turmoil.

1 Peter 5:6-7 states, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Today, I will embrace all, knowing God is in charge of my life.
