More Fake News

This morning as I pray about the world, I am reminded of the carnal mind in Romans 8:7 which reads “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”  Isn’t this the same mind that attempts to come in to tell us we are not smart enough, good enough, well enough, etc. ?    Just as we should be aware of fake news, we should be aware of this type of thinking; refute it, remove it and replace it with the Truth about us.  We are made in the image and likeness of God; perfect, whole, pure, spotless, innocent, etc.  God being the only Creator, looked at all He ever made and said it was very Good.

Philippians 4:4-6 states “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Self-immolation

This morning as I was working with the term “self-immolation”, the thought came to me of all self-pity, justification, righteousness, absorption and on and on.  To self-immolate means to kill off pity, self-righteousness, absorption, etc.  Then as I researched more about the word “immolate”, I saw it also means sacrifice and/or blessing.  This was so interesting to me because when I truly listen to God, I remove all sense of “self” and the blessing appears.

Philippians 4:4-6 states “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.”  I can only hear God when I am mentally on bended knee with no sense of self and this occurs by putting God first.

God’s Timing

This afternoon after being out of state for a week, we were hoping to get to the post office by 4:30 when the doors are locked.  When we were about twenty minutes away, my husband remarked we were not going to make it in time.  Tomorrow is Saturday and they are only opened until noon and I really wanted to stay home and get things done.

As I was praying it was tempting to watch the clock or try to speed or run through caution lights, which we did none of the above.  I prayed to know that we were following speed limits and I didn’t want to outline how I could get our mail, so I simply released the outcome to God.  It was 4:30 when we arrived and they had locked the door but when I approached and saw it was locked, there was a man inside looking at me.  I just smiled and through the glass told him we had just come from out of town and was hoping to pick up our mail.  He returned my smile and asked my address through the glass door and told me to meet him at another door, where a few minutes later, he handed me my stack of mail.

Philippians 4:4-6 was the verse that had come to mind which reads, “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  I realized I was not anxious, but gentle and the man in the post office responded to that gentleness.  Thank you, Father for spiritual growth that may only be tiny steps, but they are still apparent.

Gratitude and Humility

Gratitude and humility are keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and dissolve any and all anxiety.  We need to always rejoice because we cannot see the entire picture yet that God has in store for us and it is always Good!  Philippians 4: 4-6 reads, “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Pride and fear will never enter in and are dissolved by Love and Truth.

Complaining

One of the most difficult things to me is “Rejoicing” when I am in the middle of a challenge or problem, but I do notice I seem to make progress when I cease to complain and criticize!  A very reassuring verse from Philippians 4:4-6 comes to mind and states, “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The Importance of Gratitude

Gratitude is important because it keeps you in the “here and now”.  It is impossible to be grateful and worry about the future at the same time.  The same goes with Love.

Love and fear can never co-exist.

“Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Philippians 4:4-6
