I John 4:18 reads, “There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love.” So many times it has felt like I should not be afraid, that it is something I need to do. Of course, I realize that fear is the basis of all anger, negative feelings, disease and pain of any kind. That verse is not telling us that there should be no fear in Love, but there is NO fear in Love. God is Love and can know no fear. “Be not afraid” and “Fear not” are all through the Bible. Would God expect His child to do something so difficult?
The Truth is God knows no fear, so how can we? We handle this with the knowledge that we are talking about God here, never, ever human love.
When my heart is filled with gratitude and humility, I experience Heaven on earth, just as I experience hell on earth when my thoughts are filled with pride and fear. I John 4:18 reads “There is no fear in Love. But perfect Love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in Love.” Today, I will definitely watch my thoughts and keep them joyous. That is my Divine Inheritance and I will Love all.
While reading about the resurrection in John, I came across John 20:17 which reads “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father.” One commentary states, “Researchers understand Jesus’ words as a call to drop the desire to cling to a physical sense of Him and release the thought of personality.” Personality seems to be important to us and that is not who we are! Man is spiritual and is perfect in Spirit since we reflect God and His qualities. It is never about human good. Man can never be perfect “humanly”.
God is working His purpose out and it is always in His timing! Several thoughts come to mind about a pregnant mother carrying her baby; a butterfly in the cocoon. This should not be rushed but allow God to unfold these magnificent events. Much stress comes from using human will to make things happen before their time.
Romans 8:31 states, “What, then, shall we say in response to this: If God is for us, who can be against us?” And Luke 1:37 reads, “For nothing is impossible with God.” Today I will watch God in action with a childlike wonder!
When talking with a sculptor once, he told me the perfect idea of the piece was always there and it was revealed as he sculpted away all the excess that didn’t belong. Isn’t that the very same with man? God’s perfect child is always there, but sometimes certain ungodlike traits need to be corrected and released.
Romans 8:28 reads, “We are assured and know that God being a partner in their labor all things work together and are fitting into a plan for good to and for those who love God and are called according to His design and purpose.” Understanding the Divine is always available to us as we approach God with gratitude and humility and expectance! As we realize our perfection more, we are able to see it in others.
Below is a favorite poem of mine written by Gilbert Carpenter, Jr.
I see myself as God’s own child, as perfect in His sight.
I see my brother-man as well, a perfect child of light.
Then to complete my prayer, I see him seeing me aright..
I see him seeing me seeing him as perfect in Love’s sight.
Thought this was needed now, as always.
