O Thou of Little Faith

This morning I have been studying about Peter walking on the water.  In Matthew 14: 28-32, it speaks of Jesus walking on the water and Peter asking to join Him.  He was able to do this until he had doubts and the wind became boisterous, so he became fearful.  This is just as applicable today as in Biblical times.  It makes no difference how long Peter walked before he started sinking, the Christ was right there where he was.  Today, it matters not how long we have been struggling with a relationship problem or a health issue, the Christ is right here to comfort, guide and heal.  Matthew 14:31 states, “And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”  All we ever need to do is to mentally reach out to see the Truth and it will be revealed to us.  Asking God for bread (understanding), we are never given a stone (confusion).

Jesus Walks on the Water

In the fourteenth chapter of Matthew, Jesus walks on the water and His disciples are afraid and alarmed.  Earlier in the day He had fed a multitude of 5,000 with five fishes and two loaves and I sometime question why His disciples found His walking on the water amazing.  Then, I am reminded of challenges and doubts I entertain while praying when He has proved Himself to me over and over.

Matthew 14:31 reads, “Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him and said to him, ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?'”  He was talking to Peter who had tried to walk to Him.  This is reassuring to me when I fall because the Christ is always there to pick me up.
