The past few days have been spent studying and praying about self-righteousness.  It can be subtle or blatant, but it can  be seen through as erroneous thinking.  Recently, when visiting with a friend who was telling me of hurt feelings and praying though sensitivity, immediately I saw that she was thinking she was humanly right!  Lovingly, I pointed this out to her since I have certainly done the same thing, we both agreed that was breaking the first commandment “Thou shalt have no other God beside me.”  Even while discussing symptoms of a disease one may think he has the right to complain.   Often we even become defensive about symptoms!

Whether we are talking about self-pity, self-righteousness, self-justification, self-condemnation or any other self……., shouldn’t we address this, refute it and replace it with God is the only power there is?  God is our Health, Supply, Shepherd, Guide and the only Cause there is.   Isaiah 43:1 reads “But now this is what the Lord says–He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'”  Self is just ego and needs to be corrected immediately.

This morning while at my desk, reading and praying and rejoicing, after being in bed for a month, my heart overflows with joy.  Am working with Isaiah 43:1, 2 and 4 which reads “now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee by thy name; thou art mine.  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.  Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have love thee:”

Never does He say that we won’t have to pass through the waters, nor walk through the fire, but He does say, He will be with us.  As I think about my earlier prayers, I can remember praying for more humility and grace so I could hear Him better.  This past month has been just that and I am so grateful for this lesson that became the biggest blessing of my life.  Only Spiritual growth is going on!

Know what you know

Recently I read an article where a professor wrote a problem on the board and asked a student to come and solve it.  As the student begins writing, the teacher begins yelling, “no, no, go back to your seat!”  This happened repeatedly four or five times until a young woman walks to the blackboard and begins solving the problem.  Once again, the professor begins yelling, “wrong” and the student keeps on, ignoring his outbursts.

Upon finishing, the teacher remarks, “Well done!”  At this, the four or five hands of the rejected students shot up, exclaiming, that was exactly what they were doing.  He looked over his classroom and said, “This will be one of the most important lessons you will ever learn in  your life.  It is not enough to know the answer, but you have to know that you know.”  He goes on to tell the students just because they are impressed or intimidated by him, they need not listen to his discouragements  or doubts when they know the answer.

In Isaiah 43:1, it states, “But now, this is what the Lord says–he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”  This is something worth knowing that we know that as a Truth!
