This morning as I began my prayer and study time, I began with God as I always do. But this time I thought of God as not only the Creator, but the only Cause and Effect, the only Supply, Health, Substance, the Maintainer of our Life and our guide and Shepherd. The more I thought along these lines, fear became non-existent and almost, absurd! If we are made in God’s likeness and image we have access to all Good. When we take responsibility for our thinking and immediately recognize what does not come from God, we can refute erroneous thinking and replace it with a Truth, knowing the allness of God and the nothingness of error.
1 Timothy 6:15 reads “Which God will bring about in His own time –God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” When we quieten our thoughts and go into the closet to pray and simply listen; that is truly prayer.
As I pray this morning for more grace, wisdom, compassion, discernment and clarity, it dawns on me that a few years back, I would have been praying for material things that even if I received them, the happiness would be short-lived. This prayer helps me in my everyday life which has become more joyous even while having challenges. Spiritual growth does not need to be painful, which actually means giving up human will and ego and growing into appreciation for all the Good we already have.
Psalm 5:2-3 states “Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” To me, that means praying and then releasing that request and then expecting only Good.

“When you stand before the mirror, you do not have to wait to see your counterpart appear, or glass elucidate.
Nor does God wait for you to reach a slow perfection. Existing now, at one with Him, you are instantly reflection.”
We are now made in the image and likeness of that perfect God!
Almost all of the past few days has been spent in bed, which is certainly not usual for me. Whenever I was able, I would read and pray but it was infrequent. Then, this afternoon I was reminded of school days when a teacher would give us a “pop quiz”; not because we were being punished or she was angry but to see if we were understanding what we had been reading and studying. Without a doubt, the realization hit that had been going on with me. This understanding cut through the mesmerism of sickness like a sword! This led to Psalm 139:23-24 which reads, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Yes, I needed to not give in to the thought of sickness, but know absolutely I was made in the image and likeness of God. He is the only creator there is and knows nothing of sickness, nor could I. Definitely wanted to pass this test so I wouldn’t have to re-take it.
This morning I am working with Genesis 1:26 which reads, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ ”
We were given dominion over every “creeping” thing which I take to mean even thoughts of aging that try to sneak into our thinking to limit us. Haven’t you seen old “30-year” olds and young “80-year” olds? Does the chronological number really define us? We needn’t let it if we believe what the Bible says. Limitations of Good are not from God and we can refute that lie and replace it with the Truth about God and our relationship to Him.
