Closeness of God

As I begin my day this morning, I was pondering just how close God is; certainly not a far-off God!  Feeling He is as close as my next heartbeat, prayer or thought and relishing that thought I am reminded of Romans 8:38-39 which states “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

When I keep this foremost in my mind, I can be alert to any irritation, fear or worry that attempts to sneak in and cast it out immediately.  Either my thoughts are harmonious or not for they certainly cannot hold Love and hatred at the same time.  It is my choice what to nurture and I choose peace.

Hatred and Resentment Chief Obstacles

Today it has been brought to my attention that the above can certainly burden one while darkening thoughts.  It is so seductive to entertain ugly thoughts but then where does it leave us?  Right then, right there Christ, Truth is and all we need to do is question this thought to see if that is what God is seeing.  Luke 6:42 states, ” Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye?  Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pullout the mote that is in the brother’s eye.”  We can surely not have dark thoughts and still have room for the birth of the Christ in our thinking.  They cannot co-exist.

This season my focus will be on the Christ!

Human Hatred

The only hatred that can ever  hurt us is the hatred that we harbor in our hearts toward another. Love and fear or hatred can never co-exist.  Matthew 5:44, 46 reads “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?  Do not even the tax collectors do the same?”  The Bible also tells us that the Kingdom of Heaven is within, but that would be impossible if there is hatred there.  Today, I will be alert to my thoughts and correct any and all ungodlike thoughts I may have toward another.  I choose joy!

Praying for the Dallas Police

This morning, as I read and pray, the Dallas Police and their families are foremost in my thoughts.  The story of feeding the multitude in Matthew, interpreted Spiritually, is very poignant today.  Breaking bread is explaining Truth to the crowds and that Truth is the power of Love, which always destroys error.

Matthew 15:32-38 reads, “Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.  And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?  And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye?  And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.  And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.  And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.  And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.  And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.”

So often the news media continues to incite more fear and anger, so we need to limit our viewing of this repetitive explosives, and pray to express more Love and compassion.  Love is the only Power there is that can destroy hatred.

Genesis 1:31

Today I will work and pray with the above scripture, which reads “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”  To me, that includes you and me and I will ask for discernment to see that in everything I see.  With God’s eyes we will be able to do the following, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:18 .  Truth destroys error,  Love destroys hatred and light dispels darkness and the choice is mine on what I want to experience.
