While at my desk studying and praying, it really dawned on me that this is a new day! I don’t have to wait to receive fresh inspiration; it can happen right here, right now. Rather than rehearse the past, my thoughts can be filled with God’s wonder today, instead. This is always up to me. By turning any and every limited human thought into the expectation of peace and harmony is what I will do today. Revelation 21:5 reads “And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ And He said, ‘Write, for these words are faithful and true.'” What a freeing thought!
This morning my day is beginning with Matthew 13:31,32 which reads “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”
As I ponder this verse, I am reminded that the smallest good deed, a compliment or a smile done with Love can express the kingdom of heaven. Then the widow’s mite comes to thought. Everyone is capable of a kindness, no matter the size. It is just being alert to another’s need and this is done only by releasing self-absorption! Today I will reject any thought of self-pity, with Truth and Love for another. This is more important in our growth than a dozen sit-ups or a mile run. Complaint of any kind will be replaced with gratitude. Love will be my focus!
This morning as I sit at my desk and look out my back window, there are five deer, three are laying down and two are standing grooming each other. What humility and love is expressed in their actions. My heart sings as I pray with Psalm 118:24 which reads, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
The ones laying down are all facing different directions, being alert to any sudden movements. Couldn’t we learn from these blessed creatures and love more and be more alert in our thinking watching for any darkness that would attempt to rob us of our joy and peace?
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the author says, “For those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings.” What a statement!
This morning I arose an hour earlier than needed and am already at my desk reading and praying for this day! It is such a blessing to watch the sun rise over the hills and hear the birds sing. It is so easy to get into a rut and just go on “autopilot” when God’s amazing beauty is everywhere.
2 Corinthians 5:17 reads, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” Today is His day and I will rejoice.
Often, one may think spending alone time with God is a luxury he cannot afford, when actually, it is a necessity. We become more centered , joyful and ready for life when God is at the helm. John 15:5 reads, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
My day goes smoother when I begin with alone time with Him.
