The Tree of Life

There is a huge difference in the “tree of life” and the “tree of knowledge”.  The first signifies eternal reality while the latter speaks of human opinions, justifications, condemnation and comparisons.  We are given strict orders to stay away from that tree in Genesis 2:16 where it states “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Isn’t that telling us to stay with the thought that God is Good and the only creator?  He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient Good!  When we pray with that knowing, there is no room for error.  The more Good we focus on, the more there is visible to us.

Today, I will watch my focus!

The Place Within

There is a place deep inside each of us that can either be filled with problems and challenges or God, Love.  It is always our choice.  Self-absorption, which includes, self-pity, self-condemnation, self-righteousness comes up when we turn our back on God, Good.  Isaiah 41:13 reads, “For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”  This is not only for difficult times but  for all time!

Thessalonians 5:17 states, “Pray continually.”  This does not mean long, lengthy prayers but praise and expressing gratitude for everything.  Today I choose Joy!

My Prayer for Today

This morning, I pray for a little more grace, pure motives in everything I do, Truths tenderly told, my heart softened, my character subdued and a more consecrated life.  I want to look through eyes filled with love rather than judgment and condemnation.  This can be achieved, but only walking hand in hand with God.

John 8:12 reads, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'”

Sacrifice

As I think on the word, “Sacrifice”, immolation comes to mind.  We are never asked to sacrifice anything that is Good for our Spiritual growth, but we are expected to sacrifice self-pity, which leads immediately to self-condemnation, self-justification and self-righteousness.  One can never experience joy while “wallowing” in any of those.  Freedom from mental bondage comes from the release of those and focusing on God.  Once I heard an expression which I love, “God is, error isn’t and that’s that!”  alford_larry_10
