There are times when there seems to be so much to do which quickly turns into excessive planning and outlining. Peace will be only achieved after I have completed the things on my list (so I think). The human mind was not designed to figure out the future and can only entertain anxious thoughts when we fail to turn to God. Inevitably, something unplanned appears to throw me into confusion. Right then and there I turn to 1 Peter 5:6-7 which states, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
As I pray with that verse, I experience peace and harmony and I realize the battle is always God’s.
This morning I am reading and praying with Acts 17:22-25. The verse that stands out to me is the 23rd which reads “Now as I was going along and carefully looking at your objects of worship, I came to an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ therefore what you already worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.” I began to see that God is only unknown to me if I try to make Him human or outline Him in any way. When I see God as Love and Truth and Spirit, it makes more sense to me and I see Him everywhere. My goal is to daily learn more about God and my relationship to Him. God is also not in sin, disease and death. God is Good!
Recently I read in an article a story about someone who posted a silhouette on facebook and urged everyone to tell what they saw. After studying this for sometime, there were those asking “could it be a flower, an insect or a dragon?” Finally, the trick was to focus on the light and a face came into view and from then on, that’s all you saw!
Couldn’t we apply this is our life as we are searching for answers? We certainly cannot find them in the dark. When the light is on in our thinking, we can see with such clarity. Malachi 3:10 comes to thought saying, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Food to me represents Light and understanding! With the help of God, I will stay in the Light today.
There are times that we can feel almost mesmerized with a challenge we may be facing. What I find to be true for me to rid myself of that hypnotic trance is to be aware of the need of another whether it be to include that person in my prayers or to listen to God to see how I could help fill that need. Colossians 3:15 states “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” To me, I see “members of one body” to mean by coming to someone else’s aid, I am blessed as well since we are all one!
While beginning my day, a couple of scenarios come into thought and I am reminded immediately that they are temporal since they are human, not spiritual. Spiritual qualities like Love, Truth, joy, peace, kindness, compassion are the real and eternal. Today, I will be happy for the things in my life right now! Philippians 4:4, 12 state “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!…I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”
Today, I refuse to wait until this happens or that happens but grasp this moment with joy and expectancy of Good!
This morning the thought came to mind about thinking erroneously or negatively. If I am perplexed in any way on where a certain thought came from, immediately I know it is not from God. There is never a doubt when the thought is Truth, which is always peaceful and certain and leads with a loving hand. If the thought is negative in any way (envy, bitterness, vengeful, hateful, etc.) all I need to do is to reject it and replace it with Truth, Love. Love knows absolutely nothing of envy, bitterness, etc. and those traits can never co-exists with Love. Love is always the answer! Isaiah 41:10 reads, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
My prayer today will be with that verse if any negative thought appears!
So often it is tempting to think our supply is limited, when, in fact, it is omnipresent and unlimited. One may think that his supply comes from an employer, a spouse, an inheritance, etc. but that is only when our thoughts are closed and negative. When Jesus was asked about paying taxes, Matthew 17:27 reads, “Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou has opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.” That, to me, shows me that our supply can come from any place when we fill our thoughts with gratitude. Gratitude brings riches, not just sometime but all the time! Today I will be grateful for everything.
