Yesterday, when I went for a manicure and was led to the fourth table, and set my purse down, I looked over at a man I had not seen before and his right hand had been badly burned and there was no thumb. This man was going to give me my manicure along with humility. Immediately, I went into prayer, not from pity for this man but to see him through God’s eyes. The verse from 1 Samuel 16:7 came to mind which reads, “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart'”. Truly, his eyes glowed with Love, intelligence and compassion and I, too, saw his true being.
As I continue to pray to know God better, I see Him everywhere!
Once I heard someone say we should live like we were at summer camp. Remember, how each day was filled with joy and adventure because we were alive! Do we now live like we are at camp or fill each day with planning what we will be doing later when we get there? Life is going on Now! Isaiah 41:13 states, “For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.'” Those robbers of abundant living, which are fear and worry are never present when we live in the Now! Live today to the fullest.
While working at my desk this morning, the thought of depression came into my thinking. It seems to be widespread throughout with different types of medication and therapy thrown at you. If someone believes in this human world and are waiting for things to run smoothly in our government and world affairs, they are going to be sorely disappointed. John 14:27 reads, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” We need to look through God’s (Love’s) eyes and see what He sees. There seem to be more people praying about our world than ever before. This is a good thing.
God’s light is always shining! When our light is bright, sometimes we don’t recognize it as God’s light. In the darkness, His light is still shining and when we let it, it overpowers the darkness. It Never goes out! John 1:4-5 reads, “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
While pondering God this morning, the realization was strong that God is anything that is Good! God is Love, Truth and Life!! All Good has to come from God. That being the case, there is no room for error or sin of any kind while focusing on the Almighty God! Romans 8:28 reads, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
This was a poem written by Marcella Krisel and I found it “spot on”!
For far too long I played host to a problem that I thought was up to me to solve. I wrestled with it daily–denouncing, entreating, resenting it. Unfortunately, it thrived on all this attention and the free room and board. Finally, at a particularly low point of human discouragement, I was spurred into immediate action of a different sort by a flash of insight.
“I can of mine own self do nothing”
In what seemed then to be a fit of recklessness (almost irresponsibility) I tossed that problem out, Out–with all its trappings–from under my protective shadow into the bright sunshine. There the light of Truth and Love, unimpressed, serenely dissolved and displaced it in a matter of moments.
This morning while studying the Bible, I was drawn to the politics of the days of Jesus. He came to prove there is a higher law and God has a plan! An old definition of “obey” is to “hear completely” and that is exactly what I want to do today. I want to obey God! II Corinthians 3:16-17 reads, “Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Where the Spirit is, there is also Love. We never want laws without Love! Both are needed.
