David and Goliath

This is a familiar story to any Bible student and as I work and pray with it this morning, new thoughts appear.  I have always heard that the battle is God’s and “let go and let God” and today it has become clearer to me how David used those words.  He wasn’t comparing himself with Goliath since that would have been foolish humanly since there was no comparison, but he was comparing Goliath with God and there is no comparison there!  1 Samuel 17:47 states, “and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.”  This was David talking to Goliath and clearly, he was depending on God for his strength.  We all know who won this battle.
